Abstract1: This Digest encourages the adoption of post occupancy evaluation (POE) as part of a process of continuous improvement in building performance. It introduces a strategic method of POE tailored to the early stages of a building's occupancy (ie the first 12 months) and discusses the use of the method and explains the principles of POE. The method uses a checklist during a discussion between the client and project team in a workshop session. The early stage POE method itself is presented in tabular form; a spreadsheet version can be downloaded from www.projects.bre.co.uk/earlypoe.
