Abstract1: This paper describes the development of a straightforward approach to environmental benchmarking of whole stocks of non-domestic buildings. It provides an easy method for property managers to produce an environmental profile of their stock. This profile can be used: as a key part of environmental management and reporting practices, to aid investment decisions on renovation, disposal or purchasing, to manage risk by highlighting poorly performing buildings and as an integral part of the cost accounting for the portfolio.
