Abstract1: This Paper results from a study of the business benefits of sustainable practices in construction and property. It is the second of a set of four. Sustainable development and sustainable construction are frequently used terms that reflect a common-sense approach to property design and procurement. They reflect the balance between environmental and social impacts from buildings and the potential benefits, and the costs and improved business opportunities, the 'triple bottom line'. This provides the potential to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This synergy can result in improved building performance with benefits for the construction industry and its clients.
