Abstract1: Planning for future resource utilisation requires a knowledge of the performance of materials available, whether or not they are currently in general use. Similarly, specifiers and their clients need to have confidence in the long-term durability of previously untried materials. This paper summarises a study carried out with these objectives in mind, and shows that plain concrete containing crushed Jurassic limestone aggregate can be strong and frost-resistant but gains little from air entrainment.
