British Standard document BS EN 970, Non-destructive Visual examination of fusion welds, with the copyright BSI of 1997, is the relative European standard of the same reference number. This document lists the specific criteria for judging the success of welding pre-conditions and of the various types of welds themselves. Weld gauges and their measuring devices are referenced in Table A.1, which indexes multiple tools for determining the thickness and angle of numerous fillet welds and butt welds. This table deals with the measuring ranges and the reading accuracy of the many methods and instruments. Most tools list the included or fillet angle as 90 degrees, a few as 0-45 degrees.
