Summary:
International Standard IS0 3506-2:1998 describes the mechanical properties of nuts made of austenitic, martensitic and ferritic grades of corrosion-resistant stainless steels when tested over an ambient temperature range of 15 ºC to 25 ºC. This Standard applies to nuts with nominal thread diameters up to and including 39 mm, of triangular ISO metric threads, of any shape, with width across flats as specified in ISO 272, and with nominal heights greater than or equal to diameter of 0.5. This standard does not apply to nuts requiring properties such as locking abilities and weldability. The special features of austenitic stainless steels are acknowledged. Figure 2, Marking of nuts, illustrates the manufacturer's identification mark, steel grade and property class on Nuts style 1 and Thin nuts. Chemical compositions are given. Hardness HB, HRC or HV, and proof load test methods are covered.
