Summary:
This part of British Standard 5266-6:1999 (BS 5266-6:1999) gives recommendations for planning, design, installation, commissioning, service and maintenance of photoluminescent low mounted way guidance systems for use within emergency lighting systems. Photoluminescent way guidance systems are used to identify the location of escape routes and exits. Width of luminous elements for wall, stair tread and pitchline marker systems, stair nosing markings, marking the exit door or exit surround are given. Normal lighting, the failure of normal lighting and the period of light decay are discussed. Reference is made to BS 5266-1, which is supplementary to, and intended to be used as an addition to BS 5266-6.
