Summary:
BS 5911-1 describes requirements and test methods for precast concrete pipes, fittings, unreinforced and reinforced steel fibre. This includes those with flexible joints and nominal sizes whose purpose is the transport of sewage, rainwater and surface water. The pipes referred to are those that are installed by pipe jacking, micro tunneling or other trenchless technology. Also described are requirements for internal and external dimensions, wall thickness, lifting anchorages, internal barrel lengths and configuration of bends. Some tables included in this Standard relate relevant information and requirements for minimum crushing load, strength class, nominal sizes and tolerances of units, including egg-shaped units.
