BS 6004 details construction, dimension and mechanical and electrical property requirements for PVC insulated cables intended for use at voltages up to and including 450 V a.c. to earth and 750 V a.c. between conductors for electric power, lighting and internal wiring. Cable types covered are PVC insulated, non-sheathed general purpose cable, single core; non-sheathed cable for internal wiring, single core and twisted twin; PVC sheathed cable, single core, flat twin and 3-core; PVC sheathed cable with circuit protective conductor, single core, flat twin and 3-core; alternative conductor versions of PVC insulated; PVC sheathed cable with or without circuit protective conductor, single core and flat twin; non-sheathed cable, single core for installation at low temperatures; non-sheathed, heat resisting cable, for internal wiring, single core; non-sheathed, heat resisting cable, for internal wiring, single core and twisted twin; and oil resisting PVC sheathed, screened cables, having between 2 and 60 cores.
