Summary:
British Standard EN 545:2006 specifies requirements and test methods for ductile iron pipes, fittings, accessories and joints for the construction of water pipelines. Test assembly construction and specifications are identified. Standardized nominal sizes of pipes and fittings are given with reference made to EN 805. Wall thickness dimensional requirements and calculation methods are included. Standardized lengths of fittings are given for series A and series B fittings. Restrained flexible joints, and pipes and fittings with flexible joints are covered. Performance test methods for leak tightness of flexible joints to positive internal pressure, negative internal pressure, and dynamic internal pressure are covered. Test pressure, and internal requirements and conditions are given for the following tests: positive internal hydrostatic pressure; negative internal pressure; positive external hydrostatic pressure; and cyclic internal hydraulic pressure. Limit deviations on the nominal wall thickness are given for a variety of casting types.
